In the Asian calendar this is Year 4717, the Year of the Pig. There is no better way to celebrate than to get pig at Thomas Keller’s Addendum in Yountville where pulled pork is the order of the day. But before we pig out we have to climb the hills east of Napa: we’ll head out Monticello Road to Highway 128 and return to the valley passing Lake Hennessey. Then it’s a short hop to Yountville where we’ll pick up our box lunches at Addendum. Don’t care for pulled pork? You can order barbecue pork or his renowned buttermilk fried chicken instead. After lunch we won’t ruin our digestion with any heated sprints—we’ll mosey back on the Napa Valley Vine Trail adjacent to Solano Avenue, the frontage road adjacent to Highway 29.

A pulled pork sandwich box lunch is $18.50 ($17.50 for chicken or ribs) and comes with two sides but no drink. Addendum is busy, so to avoid waiting in line place your order in advance and it will be waiting for you (note: you will have to create an account.) We plan to be at Addendum by 1 p.m. If we can score a picnic table, we'll eat there; otherwise we'll roll down the street to the public park to dine. Note that Addendum has no vegetarian lunches.
