Join Leonard, Roger, and Tony on a moderate paced and mostly flat jaunt to Pt. Molate in the East Bay. Pt. Molate has been literally a backwater of Richmond. But the creation of the multi-use path to the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge has made getting to Pt. Molate much easier and safer. Pt. Molate is the semi-abandoned waterfront land just north of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. Almost all the land is Chevron’s except for the waterfront strip. Pt. Molate has a beach (!) and beyond it the road continues over the short, steep hill—you can walk it if you want—to the Pt. San Pablo Yacht Harbor where it ends. We’ll get lunch at the Nobilis Restaurant there and enjoy the view of Richardson Bay.
This ride starts at North Berkeley BART and takes the Ohlone Greenway to drop down to the Bay Trail where we’ll head north to Pt. Richmond and on to Pt. Molate. After lunch the way back will be along the Bay Trail with views of SF, the Bay Bridge, Mt. Tam, and Berkeley.
