Please read the Different Spokes SF
Health and Safety Plan
before attending this ride.
Distance: 3.5+ miles
Pace: B (moderate, occasional stops)
Terrain: 4 (hills, some steep climbs, with some relief)
Elevation gain: 880 feet.
There aren’t many better ways to start the day than being on your bike. Come join David and Joan for a bitty spin to start your day. We’ll begin at Philz in the Castro and take mostly side streets up to Twin Peaks. We can expect anything from a gorgeous silver sunrise over the city, to being engulfed by a navy grey shroud of fog, and anything in-between. We’ll also get a unique view of the iconic Pink Triangle that stands proudly over the Castro and beyond – considering the history of that symbol, to be so close is quite an experience.
From Twin Peaks, you can either join David for wandering jaunt back to the Castro, or join Joan as she heads westward for an up close look at Ocean Beach, or a loop around Lake Merced, or a meander through the ticky-tacky houses of Daly City. But since Joan has to stop in the westside for a day at work, the route you take back to the Castro can be whatever you like - Golden Gate Park is always nice early in the day, and the Wiggle a nice bypass for tired legs.
While our routes may be malleable, you’re sure to have fun on this one. Come on out - we’d love to have you along!! :-)
