Events and Rides - Event View

Note: You must preregister no later than Thursday August 24 by 7 AM--NO EXCEPTIONS.

Seeking relief from unremitting coastal fog? Refugees are welcome to migrate for a day to fabulous Contra Costa County to enjoy a fey triathlon: bike, run to the pool, and do your best Katie Ledecky or Greg Louganis imitation (that’s do an imitation, not do). Oh why not throw in brunch too? Roger and Tony will provide a main dish and sides; you bring an appetizer or scrumptious dessert. If vegetarian or vegan, you may bring something else to grill on the barbecue. Alcohol is BYO. Bring swim attire, towel, sunblock, sense of humor and fabulous conversation skills. We will have a car at Orinda BART at the beginning of the ride for dropping off your stuff rather than schlepping it on the ride.

You do not need to do the ride in order to attend the pool party, however everybody MUST RSVP no later than Thursday August 24 by 7 AM—no exceptions. In order to buy and prepare enough food we need to have an accurate head count. (Plus, it's just plain rude not to RSVP.) If you prefer vegan or vegetarian food, please let us know in advance by emailing Roger at the link below. There is very limited parking at the house so carpool if possible.

Needless to say the pool party is outside including the dining. But bring a mask for entering the house—Covid is spreading again. And do we really need to say this? If you're feeling ill or have recently been exposed to Covid, please do not attend. There's always next year and we're not interested in adding to the morbidity statistics!

This year we are preparing smoked ribs (or if vegan, Impossible burgers), corn on the cob, summer pasta salad with pesto, and a rice salad (vegan).

If your last name is between A to M, bring an appetizer.
If your last name is between N to Z, bring an dessert.
