The Ride
This is a classic "climb-a-palooza." Bring your "climbing shoes". But you have not lived until you have climbed the incredible Tunitas Creek Road. We start with the "camel humps" on Stage Road, then cut back along Highway 1 with the spectacular views of the cliffs and the ocean. Then up Pescadero Creek Road and over Haskin's Hill, which gets steep enough for a bit. Back down La Honda Road, then one more quick climb over Stage Road, down Highway 1, and on to Tunitas Creek Road. There is a really cool bike hut just before the climb where you can catch your breath. Then the big climb ... after an easy bit, the next 40% or so of the climb is stupid steep. But the views, the trees, breathtaking. Rarely much traffic. And then, suddenly, on the 9th (or so) right twist, it levels out into 5 - 6% long beautiful stretch to the top. Your reward? Well, you get to descend back down this amazing hill all the way to the ocean. Then we revisit the three Stage Road climbs and end up with a cool lunch at Arcangeli Grocery Co in Pescadero
Download the route and route sheet from RideWithGPS (I'll update this with food, water, and rest stops shortly.)
Sweeps? Is this a "no rider left behind" ride? Yes and no. I expect that the fast folks will head out ahead of the "regular riders" who will have a few regroups. I will basically sweep ... but let's talk if you think you are going to be slow. We will keep an eye out for each other but if you are a new rider please either know the route or bring a map in case you get dropped from the group.
Rain cancels. If forecast is iffy, contact the ride host.
