A tasty mixed surface ride with views, dirt roads, flowers, beaches and a walk through a horse stable! 40% of the ride is dirt and much of the rest is protected bike lane or slow streets! There is some single track and a few moderately technical sections (no shame in walking those). We will be stopping at the tops of big climbs and the bottoms of descents to regroup (i.e. for me to catch my breath).
A bike with fatter tires is recommended for maximum fun, ie. a road/all-road bike with 32mm or anything wider. Tread is recommended also! You can do this ride on narrower tires but you should be experienced at riding on dirt and gravel and/or don't mind walking when needed
Bring snacks and water. There are water fountains at the Tennessee Valley Stables (about half way) and Rodeo Beach, but that's about it for refreshments.
If there has been rain in the previous two days (i.e. the trails will likely be muddy), the ride is cancelled. If greater than 30% chance of rain, contact ride leader by 9:30 am the morning of for the go/no go.
Meet at 10:45 am with roll out at 11 am.
No sweep but occasional regroups.
