This is a lovely ride with lots of climbing. Starting in Half Moon Bay, we'll ride out Higgins Canyon Road up to the Purisima Creek Open Space Preserve where we'll enjoy a cool, gentle climb along Purisima Creek. A ways in, though, you'll get to know your climbing muscles as we pedal up Borden Hatch Mill Trail to Tunitas Creek Road and over to the west edge of El Corte de Madera Creek Open Space preserve. Then we’ll head off pavement and up hill to Skyline. At the top we'll head north on Skyline (bring bright tail lights if you have them, you want to be seen on that road). We’ll regroup at the North Ridge trailhead and head back down the hill, this time on delightful single track. Back at the lower parking lot, we'll catch the road back to Half Moon Bay.
A bike with fatter tires is recommended for maximum fun, ie. an all-road/gravel/mountain bike with 38mm tires or wider.
Bring snacks and water
Meals: Half Moon Bay Bakery is two doors down from the start/finish. If you pack civvi pants and a shirt with a collar and make a reservation, you could grab a snack at The Mountain House on Skyline. The group won't wait for you, though.
Sweeps? No
Is this a "no rider left behind" ride? No, but we will have a few regroups. We will keep an eye out for each other but if you are a new rider please either know the route or bring a map in case you get dropped from the group.
If there has been rain in the previous two days (i.e. the trails will likely be muddy) ride is cancelled. If greater than 25% chance of rain, contact ride leader by 9:30 am the morning of for the go/no go.
