Let’s go all the way! From our start in The Castro to Mt. Tam’s east peak and back we will accomplish 60 miles and 7,500 feet of climbing. This ride will deliver you the confidence to tackle almost any day long dirt ride you care to take on this summer. Lots of elevation, steep ascents, moderately technical descents, you’ll get them on this ride, plus great views, a sense of accomplishment and thighs of iron.
Starting in The Castro, we will traverse the city, cross the Golden Gate Bridge, climb most of Hawk Hill, Wolf Ridge and Coyote Ridge and Dias Ridge before starting up Mt. Tam via Deer Park Fire Road, Stagecoach and Railroad Grade. The descent will be via Coastal View Trail and the return will use Middle Green Gulch, Coastal and Marincello trails.
A bike with fatter tires is recommended for maximum fun and comfort, ie. an all-road/gravel/mountain bike with 38mm tires or wider.
Bring snacks and water.
Sweeps? No
Is this a "no rider left behind" ride? No, but we will have a few regroups. We will keep an eye out for each other but if you are new to the route please either know the route or bring a map in case you get dropped from the group.
