Join our friends from South Bay Blaze, and ALC training group and team, in riding around Lake Tahoe starting in the north in Incline Village.
You should register here AND confirm that you are attending on the
Facebook Event Page. We recommend that you join
Ride Lake Tahoe Facebook Group to get official updates and other Event details.
The expected route can be found here:

Following is the rest of the event description from the Facebook page, including hotel information. Note that the hotel is expensive so you might want to consider sharing rooms.
To test your fitness pre-ALC on May 15-18, take a weekend away and join us for a day bicycling around Lake Tahoe! This event is so fun and yet challenging enough that you’re in for a fantastic adventure! We ride a clockwise loop circling the gorgeous lake on a weekend bicycle getaway designed especially for AIDS/LifeCycle participants and their friends.
Bicycling does not get more beautiful than this. The setting for this ultimate bike trip is spectacular, with incredible vista views of the lake among tall pine forests. Depending on your conditioning, plan to spend between four and eight hours on this 72-mile route. Elevations go up to 6,800 feet with around 4,100' elevation increase for the day. While all are welcome, the mileage length and the many elevation differences make this route recommended for well-conditioned riders. Feel free to message Jamie if you have questions.
The room rates are available for either a Thursday or Friday check-in. Go up a day early to acclimate to the elevation and thoroughly enjoy the incredible hotel and surrounding areas. While we’re cycling only on the 17th, you should arrive at Lake Tahoe's north shore at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa, And Casino host hotel (or your own arrangements) no later than Friday, May 16th. Hotel check-in starts at 4pm. Some will want to meet for dinner or drinks that evening. Ask around. The Hyatt features beautiful rooms, suites, and cottages with breathtaking views and premium amenities. To book a room, please use
https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/group-booking/TVLLT/G-BC01 so they know you are with us, or call 1-775-832-1234 for special case reservations. Other price ranges are available depending on the views and access. You're free to explore that. There are parking and resort fees to consider, as explained in the link.
In-house breakfast begins at 7:00am sharp Saturday morning (May 17th) at the Sierra Café Hotel restaurant. We'll meet in the large parking lot at 8:30am to get signed in and begin our day with instructions, route details, and the safety speech. That should get us out of there by 9:15am.
This is an official ALC training ride, with Support and Gear (SAG) vehicles arranged for emergencies. There will also be plenty of experienced cyclists along to help you on your way. Please let me (Jamie) know if you have a source to help with SAG duty.
You can ride at your own pace. We’ll stop for lunch at
Heidi's Family Restaurant and other restroom/photo stops along the route. Hit the hotel hot tubs, pool, or casino when you return, or make an appointment for massage services (see hotel offerings). Spend Saturday night at the Hyatt and check out by eleven Sunday morning. You can do more riding Sunday if you’d like.
Rooms can be booked as long as there is availability, but this is such a popular event in a popular area that it could fill quickly, so don’t wait. You can share rooms to keep costs down, but the hotel might charge extra fees per night if you have more than four people in a room. If you are bothered by smoke, request a non-smoking room. Of course, you can also stay at other hotels and properties nearby.
The hotel cancellation policy is 48 hours' notice, which sucks in the event of surprise rain or snow. Our cancellation policy is safety first. In the event of surprise rain or snow, we'll deal with it on the spot. Watch this page for cancellations if it's forecast or covered in snow or icy conditions. If there is just no way of knowing what is happening, most of us will go up and see what happens - convert to drinking, casino lounging, and shopping south shore, I guess, if we get screwed.
Room rates will depend on availability. Therefore, BOOK YOUR ROOMS NOW! Bikes can be stored in your rooms, but if you need to maintain them, you must provide a tarp or risk a cleaning fee. Consider a bike sock to avoid any cleaning fees on the rooms.
This will be a blast! Bring your camera. You’ll meet new, fun people too. Carpool if you can, and come on up for a beautiful weekend under the trees. Invite your other ALC cycling friends to come along. All ALC cycling rules apply. Please use this Event page to RSVP with your YES.
