Route Description
The ride will start by taking the St Stephen's Trail towards Lafayette, where will enjoy a brief coffee stop at Peets (mile 5). We'll continue to San Ramon via a mix of Tice Valley, Danville Blvd, and the Iron Horse Trail. Lunch is somewhat early on this route around mile 18 at Sprouts in San Ramon. There will be limited food options on the remainder of the ride, so fuel well and buy snacks to bring with you if you do not have some pre-packed. There is significant climbing on the second half of the ride, so be prepared and don't bonk!
The second half of the ride will follow Redwood Road to Pinehurst, where will will then climb up to Skyline and Grizzly Peak for some stunning views of the San Francisco Bay and beyond. It'll be a beautiful ride through the redwoods with plenty of places to pull over and rest and get water. We'll get to Inspiration Point, then decent down Wildcat Canyon road and come back into Orinda on Camino Pablo. It's a hard ride, but the views are worth it!
It is important you bring two full water bottles and some form of electrolytes, and snacks to power you while climbing. You can pick up snacks at the lunch stop at Sprouts in San Ramon at mile 18 (before the significant climbing).
