The Route
I know it's Gay Day but for those of us who avoid crowds, I figured a nice climb-y ride would be just the thing. Open to variations or even a change of route. Just register and text me and we can talk it over. Of course if multiple folks register, majority rules.
We'll meet at Jane Warner Plaza, a little later than usual, but we gotta recover from the Pride Ride. Then take a circuitous route through the city to get to the bridge. I like to stop at La Stazione which is a few blocks off route, but a great place to fuel up with some espresso. Then "around the horn" aka the Embarcadero to the bridge.
I figure we'll ride right around the parade and celebration, but at ride out we can decide if we want to skip all that and just head straight crosstown via the usual Arguello route.
Next we climb Hawk Hill and then down the steep back side and around and up Bunker Hill. The descent from Bunker Hill is pretty gravel-y so beware. Then it's back up McCullough and from the traffic circle, a second time up Hawk Hill. The amazing descent follows, and once we are back in the city we can stop at Velo Rouge at Arguello and McAllister or at the little coffee shack right before we leave Golden Gate Park on Stanyan.
RidewithGPS link is at: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48506382. Note that the RWG has the old Peet's starting place but we are meeting at Castro and Market. I'll try to get a moment to update the RWG.
Sweeps: Yes. Regroups may happen as riders wish, and you can always just wait for the sweep, but faster riders should feel free to ride at their own pace.
