The Route
The club's traditional day after Thanksgiving ride. We'll meet at the parking area at Marinwood Community Center on Miller Creek Road just north of Lucas Valley Road. We'll head west on Lucas Valley, up Big Rock Hill, then regroup in Nicasio before heading by the Cheese Factory on our way to Hicks and the Marshall Wall. Then it's down Highway One to Point Reyes Station for a lunch at Bovine Bakery (or any of the other choices in town). We return via Pt. Reyes-Petaluma Road back through Nicasio and Lucas Valley.
This year's ride is dedicated to the memory of AIDS/LifeCycle rider and a good friend, James Booth. James was killed one year ago on the day after Thanksgiving by an out-of-control driver outside of Reno. It seems like yesterday, it seems like many ages ago. James was a crazy mountain climber so let's put him foremost in our minds as we conquer Marshall Wall again.
Meals/Snacks/Water: There is a regroup at about mile 11 at Joseph D. Grant Park staging area (portapotty and water) and at. mile 15 at Twin Gates trailhead (portapotty, possible water). At the top at Lick Observatory there is a water fountain, vending machines, and restrooms. The gift shop, which usually sells coffee, is currently open noon to 5 pm.
Ride leader Stephen can take up to three additional bikes on his bike rack from San Francisco; contact him in advance at 415-864-3584. Anyone else with extra bike capacity on your car should contact Stephen or use the Discord app to find riders in need of a lift.
Rain cancels. We will email all riders with late breaking decisions if the weather is iffy, so do check your email on the morning of the ride.
