E-Bikes
Different Spokes has e-bike riders too. Most e-bikes are welcome on our rides—if you have a class 1 or class 3 e-bike, feel free to come along! Class 2 e-bikes may not be used on our rides because our liability insurance does not cover them.
How do you know which type of e-bike you have? Class 1 e-bikes have a maximum assist speed of 20 mph, i.e. once you are at 20 mph you will no longer get any assistance from the electric motor. Class 3 e-bikes have a maximum assist speed of 28 mph. Like Class 1 e-bikes, Class 2 e-bikes have a maximum assist speed of 20 mph. But they also have a throttle that allows the rider to be propelled without pedaling, i.e. strictly under battery power.
