Finally we’re returning to Morgan Territory: the last time we actually rode there was November 2018.
In March 2020 Stephanie, Will & Nancy were to lead this ride but it was rained out; a week later the Stay-At-Home order took effect.
So let’s enjoy Morgan Territory before the summer heat envelops one of our favorite club rides. This version starts at Pleasant Hill BART. We’ll get to Clayton via the Contra Costa and Ygnacio Canal trails before jumping onto Ygnacio Valley Road, which has a good shoulder. We’ll stop briefly in Clayton before heading out Marsh Creek and Morgan Territory roads. At the top, Morgan Territory Preserve, we’ll stop again to replenish before the fast and perilous descent. Then we’ll head west to Danville for a lunch break with only a pleasant, flat run back to Pleasant Hill along the Iron Horse afterwards.
Please bring snacks and plenty of water. Water is usually available at Morgan Territory Preserve but the Pandemic may have led to the fountain being shut off. The only food and water that is surely available after Clayton is in Danville, 38 miles into the ride.
