Winter/Spring Series #3 - Stage Road and Coastside

Distance: 31.6 mi.
Elevation gain: 2,039 ft.
Pace: B (moderate, occasional stops
Terrain: 3 (moderate hills with some challenges)

Meet up at 9:15 AM for a 9:30 AM ride out
GPS file, map, and cue sheet here.

We'll meet at the parking lot at Pescadero High School. From there, it's a short ride through the town of Pescadero till we get to glorious Stage Road, one of the most beautiful rides in the entire Bay Area. With all the rain we've gotten this winter, it should be beautifully green. We'll take Stage Road until it dead ends into Highway 1. Then, south (left) on Highway 1.With luck, we'll have tailwinds with us for the 12 miles from Stage Road to the Pigeon Point Lighthouse. Couple more miles on Highway 1, then left on Gazos Creek Road, another stunningly beautiful road, especially with water rushing through the creek. Finally, back to our cars, or back to Pescadero for an optional group lunch at the end of the ride.

We'll check the weather in the morning and if there's a 30% chance of rain, will cancel and let those who are registered know. (So please preregister.)

This is the 3rd ride in a 2022 winter/spring series to help people gear up for late spring and summer riding, including the San Luis Obispo WIldflower ride, AIDS/LifeCycle or your first metric or century of the year, or ever! We'll have longer and more difficult rides as the series progresses. We'll ride routes all over the Bay Area. Most routes will be without a whole lot of stop signs and lights. We'll try not to ride in the rain, and there won't be a safety speech.

Don't have a car but want to come? Post a message to the Spokers forum on dssf.org and see if another member can help you out.

Meals: Bring a snack for the ride, after the ride we can venture into Pescadero for some artichoke bread, a nice sandwich, or whatever tickles your fancy.

Sweeps? No

Is this a "no rider left behind" ride? No, but we will have a few regroups. We will keep an eye out for each other but if you are a new rider please either know the route or bring a map in case you get dropped from the group.
