Forty & Fab: Iron Horse Trail to Dublin--CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN

Note: You must preregister to join this ride.

Distance: 21/38 miles
Pace: B/C (moderate, with occasional stops)
Terrain: 1 (flat)
Elevation gain: about 500 feet (or 800 feet round-trip)

The nearly dead-flat Iron Horse Trail from Concord to Dublin is popular rails-to-trails route for cyclists in the East Bay. It also happens to have been a club favorite back in the 1990s and early 2000s when Alfred Santiago and Stephanie Vance led it practically every month. Our route starts at Walnut Creek BART and goes to the Dublin BART station where you can take the train back home for a multi-modal fun day. We stop at Paris Baguette in Dublin for lunch before ending the ride. If you're up for more riding, then return with us back to Walnut Creek by the Iron Horse for a total of 38 miles.

About the pace: the Iron Horse Trail has a maximum speed limit of 15 MPH. On weekends sections of the trail have many users and you should exercise caution and respect in passing them. The ride leaders will be riding at about 13-15 MPH when it is safe to do so.

Meet at Walnut Creek BART in front of the station at 10 AM for a 10:15 departure.

If coming by BART, please check its schedule for unexpected train delays. If coming by car, parking in the BART lot is free on weekends.

Also, please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.
