This ride is a club favorite (and a personal favorite, too). The route starts at Concord BART and takes us on the roads behind Mt. Diablo, up to Morgan Territory Preserve. It's one of those gorgeous places you probably don't know existed unless you live in the East Bay or cycle there. When you finish the climb up Morgan Territory Road, the view is just amazing. We'll head back through Danville for a meal stop and then back north on Danville Blvd and the Iron Horse Trail.
This is the tenth ride in our
All Around the Bay Area: Winter/Spring 2025 Ride Series to help people gear up for late spring and summer riding, including the Wine Country Century, AIDS/LifeCycle or your first metric or century of the year, or ever! We'll have longer and more difficult rides as the series progresses. We'll ride routes all over the Bay Area. Most routes will be without a whole lot of stop signs and lights. We'll try not to ride in the rain, and there won't be a safety speech.
BART information: if you're coming from the city, take the train that leaves 16th and Mission at 8:11 AM and arrives at Concord Station at 9:02 AM.
Meals: Bring a snack for the top of Morgan Territory Road. Lunch will be a game day call, likely
Sultan's Kebab or
Domenico's Deli in Danville before the ride back to Concord BART.
Bring water and a snack.
We'll check the weather in the morning and if there's a 30% chance of rain, will cancel and let those who are registered know. So please preregister.
Sweeps? No
Is this a "no rider left behind" ride? No, but we will have a few regroups. We will keep an eye out for each other but if you are a new rider please either know the route or bring a map in case you get dropped from the group.
